The best shopping areas in Malmö

Malmö has a large range of design shops and young, trendy fashion. The big commercial street extends from Stortorget along Södergatan, Skomakaregatan and Baltzargatan via Gustav Adolfs torg and Södertull further down Södra Förstadsgatan to Triangeln and Möllevången. Most of the area is free from traffic.

Take a few detours to lovely Gamla Väster, trendy Davidshall or newcomers Stora Nygatan and Friisgatan. Take a break with an ocean view at Västra hamnen or on the more lively Lilla torg. The best part is that you can reach nearly everything on foot.

Young, trendy Davidshall

In recent years, new restaurants, cafés and shops have popped up in the vicinity of Davidshallstorg. There are smaller shops here selling their own design, vintage and an unusual selection. Most of them are focused on a young and trendy patronage. Find your favourite designer at Tjallamalla or clothe your whole family in fun patterns from Lollopard.

Unique shops around Fersen
Fersen is one of Malmö's up-and-coming shopping areas. Several unique shops with a focus on design, handicraft and vintage have opened in the area around Fersens väg/Helmfeldtsgatan/Kastellgatan.  Here you can find the ceramic artist Siv Andreasson, as well as 1950's and 60's vintage at Precisensån.

Drottningtorget Malmö's eco-area

At Drottningtorget, you can find a varied selection of ecological and fair trade products. Here you can find Malmö's first eco-shop - Morot & Annat, a few cool clothing shops and the best ice-cream bar in town, with homemade ecological ice-cream. During the spring and fall, The Farmer's own market comes to the square, with locally produced foods and products.

Local crafts and design at Gamla Väster
West of Lilla torg you will find the quaint Gamla Väster with its beautifully restored old houses, small charming shops, galleries and cafés.  Here you can stroll around in calm and pleasant surroundings, yet still be in the middle of the city. Around Lilla torg and Hedmanska gården, you can find several local artisans and Form/Design Center with exhibitions and shops with the best of Scandinavian design.

A funky, varied mix at Friisgatan
Behind Triangeln, Friisgatan turns in a gentle and beautiful arch between the lively Södra Förstadsgatan and the Norra Skolgatan bicycle lane. In recent years, the street has had a big facelift. It hosts a fine and varied mix of shops and cafés. Miloii & Genko combines interior design and fashion with a hair salon. At Folkart you can find unique garments and in Friishallen you can spend hours looking at old objects and gadgets.

Exotic food at "Möllan"
Some of Malmö's most colourful neighbourhoods can be found in the area around Möllevångstorget. Here you can find food from all over the world, and a popular fruit and vegetable market. If you want to find out more about the selection, take a tour with Matkaravan - a guided tour that guarantees many new taste sensations.
