On 21 October 2009, the second largest IKEA in the world opened its doors in Malmö. The total store area measures 45,000 square metres and there are 2,500 car parking spaces (900 in an under roof car park). The new Malmö IKEA is located only ten minutes by car from the city centre and five minutes from the Öresund Bridge.
