Sustainable and fair trade shopping in Malmö

Posted by Paul Malmö Turism

Keen to shop in an intelligent, sustainable way? Malmö offers a large range of ecological shopping choices. Clothing, shoes, furniture and bags – the list is long!

At Uma Bazaar, close to Gustav Adolfs torg, you’ll find both organic and fairtrade choices. The clothing looks like any you’ll find in a fashion magazine – get your jeans at a discount by trading in your old ones, and how about a clock made from reclaimed wood?

Close by is the classic IM Fair Trade. IM, Individuell Människohjälp, (Swedish Organisation for Individual Relief) has aid projects around the world, from which it sources its beautiful fairtrade clothing, bags, jewellery and home furnishings. You can shop here with a clear conscience, safe in the knowledge that you are helping others.

On the same street you’ll find Norrgavel, the furniture shop that only sells Nordic Swan-labelled furniture made from natural materials that are selected with care.

Skomakargatan, en route to pedestrian street Södergatan, is the location of Gudrun Sjödén, with its colourful clothing in organic material, featuring timeless designs inspired by nature. A visit here brightens up your day – it’s a real colour delight for the senses!

Further on down the pedestrian street is T-shirtstore, with its range of printed T-shirts in 100 % organic cotton made by graphic designers who want to express their views. Sometimes laughter sticks in the throat, as there is so much truth in the printed message.

Here you are also close to Liebling in charming Davidshallstorg, a clothing store that sells sustainable, timeless and locally-produced clothing. Liebling is worth a visit for its beautiful interior alone.

Just around the corner from Liebling is  Organic Beauty, where you can try all-organic beauty products and shop for toxin free, fair trade skincare.

Further on is Hi on Life, located in “Mitt Möllan” near Möllevångstorget. Hi on Life sells 80s and 90s vintage clothing, and street-inspired fashion, from innovative international designers.

At Slottsstaden in Malmö you’ll find rekoButiken, paradise for the ethical shopper, selling clothing, crafts, furniture and home furnishings that can be divided into recycled, eco, fairtrade or retro.

Have a great shopping day!
